As baptized Catholics, we are called to be good stewards of the gifts we have received from God and to lovingly share them with others. As the Gospel of Matthew tells us, “Without cost you have received; without cost you are to give” (Mt 10:8).

There are many ways in which we can share our gifts, and this year, the Catholic Foundation of Maine is excited to offer a new opportunity. This November, it will become the first Catholic organization in Maine to participate in #iGiveCatholic, the official Giving Tuesday campaign of the Catholic Church in the United States.

“This inaugural initiative is an exciting opportunity to build a culture of generosity across Maine, inviting donors to make a lasting impact by supporting Catholic ministries through existing endowments or helping establish new ones,” says Jenna Wood, director of Legacy Giving for the Catholic Foundation of Maine.

#iGiveCatholic was created by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops to unite Catholic foundations, parishes, schools, and ministries across the country in a spirit of generosity and stewardship. In 2025, more than 51 dioceses participated, raising millions of dollars in support of Catholic ministries.

Giving Tuesday, the Tuesday after Thanksgiving, was chosen because the day is already dedicated to shared, transformative charitable giving.

Participating in #iGiveCatholic is easy. Beginning on November 16 through December 1 (National Giving Day), donors will be able to make secure online gifts through the Catholic Foundation of Maine’s #iGiveCatholic giving page: www.igivecatholic.org/organization/Catholic-Foundation-Of-Maine. 

Gifts may be directed to one of the foundation’s 147 established endowments, used to create a new endowment, or can be made directly online to your participating parish or ministry,  helping to strengthen Catholic ministries throughout Maine for generations to come. You will find endowments that support clergy, vocations, parish ministries, schools, the preservation of beloved church buildings, and more.
