Members of the St. Thérèse Rosary Group in Sanford answered the call when the Pontifical Mission Societies asked groups around the country to make World Mission Rosaries for the September celebration of the beatification of Archbishop Fulton Sheen.

Then-Msgr. Sheen designed the World Mission Rosary 75 years ago when he served as the national director of the Society for the Propagation of the Faith, one of the four mission societies.

The Sanford group made 200 rosaries, in which each decade is a different color, representing a different part of the world.

“After having read many of Archbishop Fulton Sheen’s books myself, it was a joy to find out about a way to participate in his beatification. I find the clarity of his insight into the spiritual journey invaluable and worthy of sharing,” said Bridget Salantri, a member of the group.

The St. Thérèse Rosary Group participated in the effort as members of the Confraternity of the Most Holy Rosary.
